The mainstream press was also a target in Posada’s day. This satirical broadside shows bicycle-riding calaveras representing various newspapers who compete in a headlong race. Comically and symbolically attired, the competitors include the Roman Catholic daily El Tiempo, who wears a mitre and appears as Father Time, and El Partido Liberal, who wears a Phrygian cap.
This is an original wood block print by Jose Guadalupe Posada, printed in circa 1895. The tan ground wood paper (newsprint) has some wear and tear at the corners in the mounted frame, as depicted in photos. There is a minor tear in a crease near the middle, also depicted. The print is double side and comes archivaly framed to show both sides.
